Independence Day

We went to Oregon for the 4th of July Holiday. Having the 4th on a Wednesday really messes up the Army. We worked on Monday, had three days off, and then worked again on Friday. Friday felt like Monday. Really weird.

Anyway, we went to Yoncalla for a parade and fireworks. Yoncalla is the town where I lived until I was 11 years old. It now has a population of just over 1000 people, but still no stop light. The parade was perfect small town America, complete with riding lawn mower entry. We sat right in front of the grandstand, which was a card table with a microphone and speakers.

However, the best part of this small town parade was Elvis. Our very own Elvis impersonator.

That night, we went back to Yoncalla for the fireworks show, which was amazing for such a small town. Elvis was on stage, warming the crowd up for the fireworks.

The girls are usually asleep before the fireworks start. This time, Eowyn and Giana were wide awake, and really impressed. Seneca slept through everything. Better luck next year.
